Grouper farming in RAS shows promise for land-based aquaculture

A German consortium has developed protocols for farming Queensland giant grouper (Epinephelus lanceolatus) in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) in Europe, potentially transforming land-based fish farming. The project, a collaboration between the Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), Oceanloop, Sander, and Ecomarine, marks the first successful farming of this species in Europe.
