    BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Police officers are investigating after a 68-year-old woman was attacked and found in her home Monday night. The woman, identified as Rose Davillier, died of her injuries. Around 9:30 p.m. Monday, April 14, BRPD officers responded to a home in the 4100 block of White Sands Drive about an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, officers found the “battered body” of Davillier, according to officials. Davillier died at the scene from her injuries.

    BATON ROUGE — The St. George Fire Department and officials are urging drivers to find alternate routes as Nicholson is currently closed from Gardere to Innovation Park as crews battle brush fires. This is the area south of Ben Hur. The brush fires are close to the railroad tracks in the area, which have also been shut down, the St. George Fire Department says. Traffic is being diverted coming from St. Gabriel on Nicholson down Gardere Lane.

The retail theft arrest followed multiple reports from local retailers, prompting an LPSO investigation. During the investigation, Samuel E. Johnson was identified as a suspect in the Livingston Parish thefts.

    DENHAM SPRINGS — A mother is advocating for her 20-year-old daughter after she was hit while walking home from a friend’s house on March 29 and left on the side of the road, critically injured. The man who allegedly hit her and fled the scene has numerous prior offenses, including a DWI charge in 2020 and careless operation charges, UWK has found. Holly Crow said her daughter Jody Mann was walking home from a friend’s house down Render Road off of River Road around 9 p.m. that fateful Saturday.
