PETERSBURG, Fla. — It was a pretty sizable reunion Friday night at Tropicana Field as the Cleveland Guardians began a three-game series with the Tampa Bay Rays. Most notably, Guardians manager Stephen Vogt returned to the venue where he began his major league career in 2012. Vogt, who was drafted in 2007 by Tampa Bay, appeared in 18 games with the Rays that season.

Doug Kalitta cruises to top qualifying position in Top Fuel at NHRA NationalsNORWALK — Doug Kalitta easily grabbed the No. 1 qualifying position in the Top Fuel class Saturday as he was the only driver to turn in an elapsed time under 3.7 seconds at Summit Motorsports Park. Kalitta’s second qualifying run Friday night clocked in at 3.692 seconds at 332.92 mph, and withstood two more qualifying runs on Day 2 to give Kalitta his 57th career pole position.
