The Pugliese pianist, composer and Holocaust musical archivist Francesco Lotoro caught the research bug in 1988 as a student in Budapest. He began focusing on “the scores and documents of twentieth-century captivity”, soon realizing the urgency of tracking down survivors and their families who would give him access to their musical scores and oral memories before it was too late.
