    An increase to a vital payment is to come in to effect soon with the payment coming in the next few weeks. The €150 increase in the Carer's Support Grant was announced as part of the measures announced in Budget 2025. The grant, formerly known as the Respite Care Grant, is paid annually by the Department of Social Protection (DSP) to carers. Those who receive Carer's Allowance, Carer's Benefit or Domiciliary Care Allowance will automatically receive this lump sum amount.

    Those heading to the UK are being reminded that they must bring another key document with them to the airport under new rules that have been introduced. People who are travelling to countries within the UK are required to get an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA). This applies to visitors who do not need a visa for short stays of up to six months, or do not already have a UK immigration status.
