BOSTON — So, maybe, newly minted hitting coach Bret Boone in fact didn’t fix the offense overnight. Not that anyone reasonably expected that, of course, but the Texas Rangers finished their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park with consecutive offensive steps backward after what felt like a breakthrough in Tuesday’s win. Thursday’s 5-0 loss felt like more of the same. The story: It was the offense. To be specific, though, it was the situational offense.

BOSTON — They’ve tweaked and twisted their lineup. They’ve fired a coach and hired a coach. They’ve demoted a player and promoted a player. They’ve done, uh, quite a bit in a five-day span. “Yeah,” Texas Rangers left fielder Wyatt Langford said, “it’s definitely been crazy.”It’s only crazy if it doesn’t work. Now, with the upheaval temporarily at ease, they’ve got to make sure it does. “There’s going to be moves that are made,” right-handed pitcher Nathan Eovaldi, a clubhouse leader, said.

BOSTON — He stood on the foul territory dirt at the league’s oldest ballpark, panned his head toward the Green Monster in left field, the unique angles in center, Pesky’s Pole in right and smiled. “This is awesome,” Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter said Tuesday at Fenway Park. “When you think of the big leagues, you think of stuff like this.”How fitting.

ARLINGTON, Texas - There's this persistent concern in regards to what this nation's youths are allowed to read, watch or listen to, and yet, after the annual Weather Day at Globe Life Field Thursday, thousands of schoolchildren were willingly exposed to the Texas Rangers' offense. It's not exactly TikTok slop or influencer fodder, sure, but it's about as equally conducive to productivity. There doesn't seem to be a ton of fantastic answers as to what can be done to patrol, either.

The key to a broken no-hitter and an increasingly rare one-run win? Maybe a little early batting practice. https://t.co/hgUopC986a

Some more numbers: - Mahle (1.47) and Nathan Eovaldi (1.78 ERA) both rank within the top five leaguewide. Only team with two in the top 10. - Rotation's 3.00 ERA is the third-best in baseball and second-best in the AL behind only KC (2.97). - 16 wins by a starter are T-4th

Tyler Mahle's 1.47 ERA is the second-best in baseball and is a hair better than Houston's Hunter Brown (1.48). Both are slated to pitch in this weekend's series between the two teams but not against each other.
