It's one idea that became eight different series over a span of five decades, and it's still being produced. The characters have been timeless, helping fans navigate true-to-life cases that must be experienced to be believed. Each series has its signature characters; these are mononymous souls known by their last name only like Benson, Stabler, or Goren.
