San Diegans can expect a chance for some drizzle and light showers early Thursday with gusty winds in the afternoon, the National Weather Service said. Rain will be light from the coast to the valleys with 0.10 inches or less. Rain in our mountains is expected to be around 0.25, the NWS said. "Most chance for showers is going to be this morning, it'll be very light, nothing heavy," NBC 7's Meteorologist Sheena Parveen said.

Monday is expected to be much drier than the weekend but there is a chance for showers overnight, the National Weather Service said. The next storm system is expected to approach next weekend. Clouds are expected to increase later in the afternoon and evening and there could be a few light showers lingering into early Tuesday, NBC 7's Meteorologist Sheena Parveen said. There is a high surf advisory at the coast until noon for wave heights around 5 to 8 feet, lowering to 4 to 6 feet this afternoon.

An afternoon thunderstorm and scattered showers are possible on Friday due to a storm that has brought snow to the San Diego County mountains, causing some school districts to cancel classes. An area of low pressure to our east will continue pushing moisture into our area, so more rain and snow chances will be in the forecast Friday, NBC 7's Meteorologist Sheena Parveen said. Thursday night and early Friday, there were some thunderstorms in our region.

The king tides may be in the rearview, but San Diego surfers will still have plenty to celebrate starting this weekend. While Saturday's expected wave heights are forecast to top out at about 5 feet, wave watchers on west-facing beaches will be rewarded with surf reaching 8-10 feet the following day, according to NBC 7's Sheena Parveen. Come Monday, the swell will diminish, but still be tasty at 5-7 feet, with Tuesday's rollers building and expected to be between 8-12 feet, Parveen said.
