Another young Bahamian tennis player has received a scholarship and has signed to play collegiate tennis. Dylan Carey will be attending at the University of Tennessee Southern (UT Southern) in Pulaski, Tennessee, studying cybersecurity while playing collegiate tennis. The University of The Bahamas’ (UB) Mingoes men and women’s golf teams were back in action over the weekend. Travis Cartwright and Darrius Thompson locked up third place at the 2nd Annual Flamingos Women’s Golf Club 242 Tournament at the Bahamas Golf Federation’s (BGF) Golf Course on Saturday. The duo finished tied with a score of 31 in the two-man scramble event at the nine-hole par three golf course. Also competing for UB were Rachel Quant, Gia Marshall and Dinaj Major.

Following another competitive meet on its calendar over the weekend, the Bahamas Aquatics Federation has ratified what it expects to be a very strong team heading to the 29th Goodwill Swimming Championships, which is set for August 15-17 in Bridgetown, Barbados. The 29th edition of the event was originally set to take place here in The Bahamas. On Tuesday, the federation ratified a 40-member team for the junior regional championships.

The Play Tennis Bahamas community-based program, for this year, opened up in February 2025, and ran in two structured sessions that ended on Saturday, May 31. The BLTA recognized in 2019 that it was important to offer free tennis sessions to the young children who would not have access, and started what would become a community-geared development program. The program has overcome the high-pricing barrier to the sport, offering the course at no cost and providing all the tennis equipment.
