Highly-regarded freshman safety Ju’Juan Johnson, who was switched to running back earlier in the week, didn’t need much practice time to get on the field in his new position Saturday night when LSU met Nicholls State. Johnson, a four-star recruit who played quarterback and defensive back for Lafayette Christian Academy, made the move to running back after John Emery suffered a season-ending ACL injury in Tuesday's practice.

Four days after running back John Emery went down with a torn left ACL in practice, LSU lost a key veteran defender early in Saturday night's home opener with Nicholls State. Senior defensive tackle Jacobian Guillory suffered an injury to his lower right leg on the fourth play of Nicholls' second possession in the opening quarter. Guillory was helped to the sideline where he was fitted with a walking boot, then was taken from the field in a wheelchair.
