The 30-year-old Tawlks-Foster Suspension Bridge on the Methow Community Trail in Mazama is currently undergoing critical periodic maintenance. The work on the 280-foot span began on May 13 and will continue through June 30. The iconic wooden bridge was constructed through a collaborative effort between several partners in 1995.

Surfaces preside over 80th annual event in WinthropWinthrop’s 2025 ’49er Days Grand Lady Janie and Marshal Larry Surface are a well deserving royal couple in the Methow Valley. Their relationship harkens back to Twisp High School where they were young sweethearts, graduating together with the class of 1969. They have long enjoyed the festivities surrounding the 80th ’49er Days celebration and are appreciative of being chosen as the royalty for this year.

Nothing says spring like an Easter Egg Hunt. This year’s Methow Valley event on Saturday, April 19, will be held (rain or shine) at a new location on the Sean McCabe Trail at the Liberty Bell High School campus. Ample parking is available in front and behind the high school. Winthrop Kiwanis Club, Twisp Valley Grange and Ulrich’s Pharmacy will again host the free event. Key Club members will be offering their services where needed.

Bryan and Regan Putnam have long held the belief that strength training is a positive path to improving overall health in many ways including building strength, increasing flexibility and boosting mood — thus a sustainable way to enhance quality of life. With these beliefs in mind, the Putnams set out to build a facility in their hometown of Twisp that would offer full-service strength training and a wellness center to folks in the Methow Valley at an affordable price point.
