Five of the 26 people who staff the Great Basin National Park were terminated in the across-the-board cuts to the federal workforce in the first month of President Donald Trump’s attempt to get spending under control. The park is a treasure. I remember when I first saw it. It wasn’t a national park then. The beauty of the area is stunning enough, but, of course, the caves were absolutely jaw-dropping.
