In a corner wing of the National Gallery of Canada, through a light-flooded courtyard and down a corridor, lies The Forty Part Motet. The installation is in a former chapel stripped of religious imagery, with stained-glass windows, a neo-gothic altar and 40 speakers, each emitting the voice of a choir singer.
