Digital media stakeholders were encouraged to come up with ways to raise awareness about misinformation and disinformation. The Editor-in-Chief of Nation Media Group, Joe Ageyo, expressed concern over the increasing circulation of unverified news that misleads the public. Speaking during the 5th Nation Digital Summit in Diani, Kwale County, he said there was need for increased awareness and literacy to check the continued spread of false information that many people have fallen victim to.

A sombre mood engulfed Pongwe-Kikoneni village in Lunga Lunga, Kwale County, as a 29-year-old woman was interred after she was brutality murdered by her husband. Lunga Lunga Sub County Police Commander Francis Mwangi reported that Tima Shabani, a mother of two, was allegedly stabbed in the chest by her husband, causing severe bleeding that led to her death. Two other people sustained injuries after the suspect attacked them with a knife as they tried to intervene.

Diani in Kwale County has once again been voted Africa’s leading beach destination, beating its counterparts in the continent in the latest World Travel Awards. Diani, located south of Mombasa City, is renowned for its white sands and pristine beaches.
