It’s a pity that by law Cyril Ramaphosa does not qualify to be considered for another term as our president, but I suppose the least we can do when he leaves office is to give him flowers – or a Bells – whatever tickles his fancy. Minister of finance Enoch Godongwana. I wouldn’t want to be in finance minister Enoch Godongwana’s shoes, even if you handed me his blue lights. There was widespread acceptance among ANC leaders that for the party to return to government it would need to enter into a coalition. This view was informed by the party’s internal polls that showed that the ANC would need a miracle to garner more than 50% in the May 2024 elections.
