In a previous article, I had addressed a common argument against homosexuality — “Homosexuality is unnatural, hence immoral.” In this article, I argued that there lies no logical connection between naturalness and morality. Another related common argument that is presented in support of the above argument is this — “Homosexuality is unnatural. Animals don’t do that.”Does it matter what animals do? It’s a bizarre argument. Animals don’t brush their teeth either.

People from the LGBTQ+ community often hear these words —and many more, from the seemingly civil ones to vile & hateful ones (common eg; “pervert 😖”) — meant to describe and discuss their sexual orientation and gender identity 👥. For some unknown reason ❓, people from the heterosexual community don’t hear these words. They also don’t have their sexual orientation and gender identity discussed and debated about in public 😶. Far from it.

In our country, we live with people very different from us. The right to freedom of expression is crucial for self-realization of each fellow citizen of our country - however different they may be from us. It allows each individual to realize their human potential by affirming their dignity and worth. And who does not want a society like that, right? How would it feel to live in a society where you were not allowed to speak up against an injustice inflicted upon you?
