The Machine Intelligence Testing for Risks (METR), an organisation that works with OpenAI to test their models, alleged that the AI company’s o3 model appears to have a greater tendency to cheat or hack tasks to boost its score. In its blog post, the benchmarking company said the o3 evaluation was conducted in a short timeframe with limited access to information. METR gets early access to test OpenAI models. This preliminary analysis was done three weeks before the models were made public.

Microsoft Research has introduced BitNet b1.58 2B4T, a new 2-billion parameter language model that uses only 1.58 bits per weight instead of the usual 16 or 32. Despite its compact size, it matches the performance of full-precision models and runs efficiently on both GPUs and CPUs.The model was trained on a large dataset containing 4 trillion tokens and performs well across a wide range of tasks, including language understanding, math, coding, and conversation.

The company has also introduced a free tier to make its AI features more accessible. Starting with version 2025.1 of its IDEs, JetBrains is offering unlimited code completion and access to local AI models through the free tier. Users can also access cloud-based assistance and Junie on a credit-based system.
