NRG Energy Inc. agreed to acquire natural gas-fired power assets from LS Power Equity Advisors LLC for about $12 billion including debt. The deal will double NRG’s generation capacity, adding 18 gas-fired facilities totaling approximately 13 gigawatts, the companies said Monday in a statement. NRG has been a key beneficiary of the AI-driven boom that’s upended the US power system.
