A solar storm strengthened the aurora bringing it southwards towards the United Kingdom. While solar activity remains elevated, there is a chance of seeing the Northern Lights again tonight, mostly in the north of the UK. Although, there could be quite a bit of cloud restricting the view for some.

There will be more sunny days to come this week as high pressure continues to dominate. Temperatures will start to build in the lead up to Friday, where we could see the warmest day of the year so far, possibly reaching 23C or 24C in places. But if you've been enjoying the brilliant blue skies and sunshine across the UK that April has had to offer, make the most of it as this period of settled weather is coming to an end. It will be all change by Sunday with rain in the forecast.

Also worth reminding that temperautre is not related to UV. So, even where it's cold, the Sun is still as strong.

@SimonOKing Where? It’s freezing

With more sunshine today, it's worth bearing in mind the Sun is as strong now as it is in late summer ☀️ Moderate to high UV across the UK so suncream recommended/required 🦞 https://t.co/HspeqKo5VB
