Indian power company JSW Energy’s renewable power generation has increased by over 40% for the first quarter of the 2025 financial year, but electricity output from solar projects dropped by 2.7% over the same quarter. In its latest financial results, the company said its electricity generation from renewable power sources increased from 2,258 million units to 3,242 million units, representing an increase of 43.6%.

US solar manufacturer First Solar has started an investigation into several crystalline-silicon cell solar manufacturers for potential infringement of its patents. First Solar gained the patents through the acquisition of TetraSun in 2013. The investigation followed First Solar’s announcement of its ownership of patents related to the manufacturing of tunnel oxide passivated contact (TOPCon) and c-Si PV cells.

US residential solar provider SunPower has stopped several operations including new shipments and financing options, according to an analyst note. Investment bank Roth Capital published a letter from SunPower obtained from industry contacts. In the letter, SunPower said: “Beginning today, 17 July 2024, SunPower will no longer be supporting new Lease and PPA (power purchase agreement) sales nor new project installations of these financing options.

Chinese inverter manufacturer Sungrow has signed an 850MW PV inverter supply agreement with Hero Group’s renewables arm, Hero Future Energies. Sungrow said the inverters will be delivered to multiple Hero Future Energies projects in India. Under the agreement, Sungrow will supply its 1,500V inverter solutions from its manufacturing plant in Bengaluru, suitable for “projects in harsh conditions, like deserts”.
