A woman has died following a road crash in South Kilkenny. The collision, involving a car and a truck happened on the main N25 at Gaulstown, Glenmore this morning(Friday). The driver of the car, a woman aged in her fifties, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body has been removed to the mortuary where a post mortem examination is due to take place. The road remains closed to traffic for now and a technical examination of the scene is to be carried out.

A young woman’s been killed after her car plunged into a river in Co. Tipperary. It happened last night near Cahir. Gardai say this incident happened after 10 o’clock last night at Kilmoyler , when the young woman’s car left the road at Kilaldry bridge. The vehicle plunged into the river Aherlow and the driver, who was 18 and travelling alone, died at the scene.

Gardaí are looking for any witnesses to a spate of burglaries in Kilkenny on Wednesday afternoon. Cash was stolen when a home at Donaguile Heights in Castlecomer was entered and searched sometime between 12.30 and 4.30pm on Wednesday. Two houses in the city were also targeted early that afternoon.

A final decision on whether a new housing development for Carlow gets the go ahead is still awaited. Further information has been provided to the planning department in relation to the application by Elmendorf to build 64 news homes on lands to the west of the Link Road at Chapelstown. The plan is for a mix of three-bed and four-bed terraced and semi-detached houses and if approved it would form Phase One of the overall development of the wider site.

A man has been taken to hospital following a crash involving a car and an e-scooter in Carlow town this afternoon (Thursday). The collision happened on Hanover Street at around 1.30pm. Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene and a man aged in his forties was taken to St Luke’s hospital to be treated for serious injuries following the incident.
