To miss a county match is nearly unheard of when you are a vital player on the team, but for Roscommon's John McManus, it looks like management were able to bend the rules slightly...it was his wedding day after all. John and Orla O' Neill (who also play for Roscommon ladies) met in college nine years ago and are each other's biggest supporters when it comes to the game.

The Kildare ladies' team certainly has fire in their bellies when it comes to the love of the game, and newly appointed captain Laoise Lenehan is ready to guide the girls into the new season. With Armagh and Meath in their group, it won't be an easy walk in the park this season but the team is ready to give it their all. Off the pitch, Laoise is supported by her biggest fan, her boyfriend Ryan, whom she actually met thanks to the game.

Meath's Aoibhín Cleary is currently fully immersed in the All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship, but the Meath player has a busy year ahead. Australia-bound, Aoibhín will be packing her bags and heading down under very soon after being signed up for AFLW side, Richmond. Having never been to Australia before, Aoibhín spoke of how she is a little nervous, but family, friends, and in particular her partner, who is another famous LGFA player, have been nothing but supportive.

Inspiration and encouragement can come from all walks of life and for Mayo's Nicola O'Malley, one musician gets her focused and ready to take on opponents. Making her debut in 2016, this season got off to a rough start for Nicola but she is back and raring to go as the TG4 All-Ireland Ladies Football Championship gets underway. With each match comes a certain amount of pressure, but the defender gave EVOKE an insight and tips on what calms her nerves and how to keep a level head before a game.

Heading out onto the pitch to face your opponent can be nerve-wracking, but Galway's Kate Geraghty's dad knows just what to do to settle his daughter's nerves. The City of Tribes player has had a lustrous career so far, winning a Minor All-Ireland with Galway in 2018 and making her senior debut in 2021. She also picked up an All-Star award in 2024 and was chosen as left corner back on the All-Star team.
