Campaigners were hoping to break a UK record for the largest group tree hug set in Cheshire. They needed 703 people but 925 joined the chain.

Back after two years, the race started in Gosford Street at 09:00 GMT on Sunday and finished at the cathedral. A number of road closures were in place throughout the city for the race.
