It dawned on me I have been in the entertainment economy since 1985, whilst at UCT Radio. Cleaning out we found some posters and articles, so I thought to post. Penguins in Bondage, The Usual, Seether, Hotstix and now Siphokazi Jonas. Can’t believe it has been 40 years this year 2025. We will find an article or two as well regarding 17 years at BMG records in Cape Town (head of media and marketing). BMG later became Sony Music.

Yesterday 4th February was an absolutely outstanding day. Siphokazi spent the afternoon with approximately 1000 learners at Westerford High School discussing her book, WEEPING BECOMES A RIVER. Together, they laughed, reflected, and she challenged them to embody their authentic selves and creativity wherever they go. THIS is a core reason why she wrote the book. The fourth Cape Flats Book Festival returns to West End Primary School in Lentegeur, Mitchell’s Plain, on Saturday and Sunday February 1 and 2. The FREE festival is organised annually by Read to Rise, a non-profit organisation that promotes youth literacy in poor communities. Siphokazi Jonas is on stage on 2 February – see poster below “The Cape Flats Book Festival is rewriting the narrative of the Cape Flats by bringing stories, ideas and dreams to life.
