Introduction Chilling temperatures (0–12 °C) inhibit plant growth and development, prolonged exposure to chilling temperatures of plant destroy cell membranes and lead to cell death (Degenkolbe et al., 2012; Ding and Yang, 2022; Kidokoro et al., 2022; Uemura et al., 1995). Thus, chilling stress is an environmental factor that has a significant impact on plant growth and productivity.
