My suspicion is that McClellan was so heavily favored to win that the ref wanted to give Benn every possible chance to win in front of his home crowd.

Nobles was nothing special. Fought the usual cannon fodder and had no legitimate wins over elite competition. Didn't have the dedication to stay in proper shape. Honestly, I can't believe there is a thread about him. He is of amost no historical significance.

Incredibly high. Kovalev was a light heavyweight champion and knocked out top light heavy Anthony Yarde three months before that. All-time great win for Canelo. More impressive than Roy Jones beating Virgil Hill or Bobo Olson beating Joey Maxim, which are great wins, too. Canelo was better against Kovalev than Ward (either time) two years earlier. Clean knockout. Incredibly exciting.

Dubblechin said:↑I've said it in other threads. Deontay Wilder reminds me of Bob Fitzsimmons. I used to think Wilder reminded me of Max Baer. But for all the WINDMILL talk, Wilder does throw some brutal straight shots. Fitz kept his distance. He closed fast. He was often awkward when he attacked, but he was generally effective. Threw his arms out to block when an opponent attacked. Despite his thin legs, he had great power and knocked out most people he fought.

Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Devon, . Who wins this matchup and win what approach do you think they will both take? GoldenHulk, escudo, AwardedSteak863 and 4 others like this. Qawi outworks him for a decision. Even making him look silly at times. But, it would be a good fight. I would pay to see it. MarkusFlorez99, ikrasevic and White Bomber like this. Discussion in 'Classic Boxing Forum' started by Wladimir, . Hmmm. On career strengths & watching him fight, it’s Nelson, hands down. But he’s such an excuse-mongerer, I like the less accomplished but classier Ike Quartey a lot more. Almost all of these Ghanaians are tough as nails. I was a big Ike Quartey fan back in the 90s. But, at their bests, there was none better than "The Professor." A true All-Time-Great. Smokin Bert said:↑Almost all of these Ghanaians are tough as nails.
