IntroductionLupus erythematosus is a distinct group of autoimmune diseases characterised by varied autoantibody formation involving several organ systems. The disease spans a spectrum of minor organ involvement (cutaneous) to disabling and life-threatening organ involvement (renal, central nervous system).1Cutaneous LE can manifest isolated or be accompanied by other major organ involvement. The musculoskeletal system ranks highest in terms of frequency of involvement, followed by skin.
