1 Introduction In the United States, over 35 million children seek care annually in emergency departments (EDs) with 80% of pediatric visits occurring in EDs that concurrently care for adults [1-3]. The Society for Academic Emergency Medicine has identified pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) education for emergency clinicians as a critical need to decrease variability in pediatric outcomes nationwide [4].

Background Gaps in quality of pediatric emergency care have been noted in community emergency departments (CEDs), where >85% of children receive care. In situ simulation provides opportunities for hands-on experiences and can help close these gaps.
