It has been almost a year since a group of concerned physicians in Georgia signed an open letter to our lawmakers about the crisis we face from injuries and death in our state because of firearms. More than 1,500 people die every year in Georgia from gun violence; every single day, we lose at least four people to gun violence. On average, a child dies from a firearm injury every other day in our state. Many more are injured.
