A look at class enrollment data reveals the arts’ central position in student life. The Department of Music sees a total of 1,573 enrollments during this fall quarter, ranking seventh among the most enrolled undergraduate departments.

    Last year, the Center for Comparative Studies in Race and Ethnicity (which helps run the CSRE programs) was given the green light and funds by the Department of Humanities and Sciences to hire an associate director for three of its programs. This position was created to foster community among the various academic programs in CSRE and address criticism from students and faculty for its limited course options and teaching staff inconsistency.

Just like the bitter bean of its métier, beloved student spot Coffee House (CoHo) became delicious under pressure. From the uphill battle of its inception to the uncertainty of recent pandemic years, the CoHo’s history is a rich one. It comes as no surprise, then, that its contribution to the student body has been profound.
