Lead researcher from Monash University’s school of clinical sciences, Dr Erin Mills, says parents kept telling doctors they knew something had been wrong with their child before the doctors had noticed any deterioration. “Our data now proves what we all already knew, which is that parents are the experts in their child and parents could pick up deterioration better than our vital signs,” she told Sofie Formica.

Four people have lost their lives as rain continues to batter parts of New South Wales today. Long-range weather forecaster Ken Kato says heavier rainfall has shifted to parts of eastern Victoria, but he warned parts of New South Wales will continue to see “moderate to locally heavier” rainfalls. “Given how relatively wet the catchments are in a lot of Eastern New South Wales, you still couldn’t rule out the possibility of flooding in that area,” he told Sofie Formica.
