1. IntroductionIN is a peptide hormone secreted by the beta cells of the islets of Langerhans that is the most important hormone in anabolic functions regulating glucose homeostasis. In addition to its metabolic effects, its cardiovascular actions are of special relevance, among them the synthesis of nitric oxide (NO) [1], endothelin 1 (ET-1) [2], or its effects on the adrenergic system [3]. IN has vasodilatory effects that are induced by the release of endothelial NO [1].
