BATTERY PARK CITY, Manhattan (WABC) -- An app is one woman's idea to make the streets of New York safer. She was the victim of a violent attack, and now she wants to make sure no one ever has to walk alone if they don't feel safe. Therapist Pamela Garber is developing the 'Never Walk Alone' safety app, intended to give people the option of walking with someone -- like a buddy system. "The Never Walk Alone safety app provides walking companionship for vetted users," Garber says.

GRAND CONCOURSE, The Bronx (WABC) -- A family is speaking out after a chef, and father of six, was severely injured in a shooting in the Bronx last week. Chef Ian Blake loves to share his creations on TikTok, working in different kitchens or his own with his catering business where he sometimes cooks for celebrities. "His kitchen is his playground. He liked to cook, and he enjoyed people and he enjoyed food," said Blake's sister Loleta Blake.

Angel Ortiz, a senior at Arts High School, wants to study political science and now he just has to decide where. This week, Ortiz was accepted to Yale after already being admitted to Dartmouth, University of Pennsylvania, Harvard, Columbia, Brown and Princeton.
