MONTPELIER — The state Senate Committees on Education and Finance got their first look at the bill that intends to transform Vermont’s education system. House Committee on Ways and Means Chair Rep. Emilie Kornheiser, D-Brattleboro, and House Committee on Education Chair Rep. Peter Conlon, D-Cornwall, attended a joint hearing of the two Senate committees on Tuesday to present an overview of the 160-page bill that was passed by the House on Friday.

RUTLAND — A man who helped keep Rutland and beyond healthy for the better part of three decades has passed away. Thomas Huebner, 71, died on Wednesday at Massachusetts General Hospital following a prolonged illness. Perhaps most widely known for his 28-year-long service as the president and CEO of Rutland Regional Medical Center, Huebner has been described by colleagues as a passionate health care advocate and true force in the community.
