With Oakland facing a roughly $80 million hole in the city budget, a heralded new program to bring film productions to town is on the chopping block. The Film Rebate Incentive Program, an effort to lure film and television with rebates on production costs, was approved unanimously in July by the City Council.

Henry S. Rosenthal is a film producer, an experimental musician and a compulsive collector; however, he doesn’t consider himself an artist but rather just someone who is “cursed with bad taste.”Like pretty much everything about Rosenthal, it’s not always clear when he’s being serious or comedic. His new exhibit debuted in early October at the Gray Loft Gallery in Oakland’s Jingletown neighborhood.
