An eastern brown snake was caught as it was eating a fellow eastern brown. Experts say it is not common for brown snakes to eat each other, but it does occur. After being caught and removed, the snake was left to finish its meal before being released. An Adelaide-based snake catcher has caught an eastern brown snake having a snack on one of its own kind.

The Bureau of Meteorology says a possible tornado could have caused the extensive power outage in Far West New South Wales as SA's Energy Minister confirms mining operations at Olympic Dam will be down for a week following storms in the state's north. "The damage to infrastructure that occurred south of Broken Hill is consistent with such damaging winds, and the possible presence of a tornado," A Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) spokesperson said.

South Australia's upper house has narrowly voted down a proposal to amend abortion laws that would have required people wanting to terminate their pregnancy after 28 weeks to deliver their baby alive. The amendments, proposed by Liberal MP Ben Hood, would have required women seeking to terminate a pregnancy from 28 weeks to instead undergo an induced birth, with babies to then be adopted.
