The International Booker Prize 2025 recently announced its longlist. The longlist of 13 books – 11 novels and two collections of short stories – was chosen by the 2025 judging panel, chaired by Booker Prize-longlisted author Max Porter. The other judges are: poet, director and photographer Caleb Femi; writer and publishing director of Wasafiri Sana Goyal; author and International Booker Prize-shortlisted translator Anton Hur; and singer-songwriter Beth Orton.

eLife assessment This valuable manuscript provides an interesting account documenting the role of resident CD56(br) NK cells in driving interaction with dendritic cells that attract CD8+ T cells to the pancreas cancer tumor microenvironment (TME). The work convincingly illustrates how irradiation combined with CCR5i and PD1 blockade leads to a reduction in pancreatic cancer growth that correlates with a reduction in Treg cells and enhancement of NK and CD8 T cells in the TME.

Tattered Cover is a Denver institution. Founded in 1971, it’s now one of the U.S.’s largest independent-bookstore businesses. Kathy Baum, who oversees the store’s orders for new books, curating what she thinks people might like to (or should) read, spoke with us not long ago about some of her recent and upcoming favorites.
