Efforts are still underway to trace and arrest more suspects in a gang rape ordeal against a Mombasa-based blogger, detectives investigating the incident have told the court. Police corporal Irene Karuga from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in her sworn affidavit before Shanzu resident magistrate Robert Mbogo said the remaining suspects who include senior county officials, will be tracked down to record their statements on the ordeal.

A Mombasa court has sentenced a boda boda rider to seven years in prison after he pleaded guilty to the offence of retaining Ksh200,000 that had been wrongly sent to his M-Pesa account. Mombasa senior resident magistrate David Odhiambo sentenced 27-year-old Samuel Mwithiga Wanjiku to serve seven years after he pleaded guilty to the charges.

A Muslim clergy has been charged with the offence of obtaining Ksh1.8 million by false pretence from an Oman national. Sheikh Mohammed Alhadi Ahmed pleaded not guilty to charges of obtaining the money from Said Saif Salim by falsely pretending that he was in a position to purchase him eight acres of land in Malindi.

Two people have died due to strong winds that have hit the coast region since May 21, 2024, following Tropical Cyclone Ialy. Coast region police commandant George Sedah said among the victims is a four-year-old pupil in areas of Kayafungo Kaloleni subcounty. "The four-year-old is reported to have died after chaos erupted after the strong winds began sweeping across the region," Sedah said. The police boss further called on coastal residents to exercise caution.
