This spring, Guerlain enriched its Absolus Allegoria range with a new opus, Ambre Samar. The new fragrance cultivates the house's balmy, sensual DNA to depict a lunar eclipse, creating flamboyant red tones. With Ambre Samar, in-house perfumer Delphine Jelk captures the mysterious radiance of an eclipse night. The image of a fiery moon suspended in a black sky inspires a play of chiaroscuro, where amber unfurls honeyed glimmers against a darker woody base.

This new label is the fruit of a partnership between the investment company Archive and Creative Director Francesco Ragazzi. Founded on their friendship and a shared taste for beautiful things, the brand is inspired by French savoir-faire and Californian charm.

Earlier this year, Guerlain revealed a new edition of its famous La Petite Robe Noire, a reinterpretation of the eau de toilette. The new edition reveals the iconic rose and cherry accord, hemmed in with patchouli and tonka bean, in a brighter, more luminous light. I can't say exactly how many flankers there are in the La Petite Robe Noire line, but it's true that it's getting a bit confusing.
