NEWINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — One state legislator this session is looking to put out-of-state breeders in the legal doghouse, proposing a bill that would ban the sale of these pets. State Rep. Gary Turco (D) met with animal welfare advocates and the owners of Hound & Home, a pet store in Newington, on Friday as part of an effort to fetch support for the legislation. With the bill, he is urging people on the market for a pet to either rescue or buy from Connecticut breeders.

CONNECTICUT (WTNH) — Twenty years after Abby Boretto lost her father, her family received a package in the mail with his Annapolis class ring. Her father, Lt. Henry Pilger, was one of five U.S. Marines who died in a helicopter crash in 1971 while on a joint NATO mission above the Arctic Circle. Two decades later, while on a hunting trip in the area, a Norwegian doctor found Pilger and his class ring among the wreckage. The man made it his life’s mission to return the ring to Pilger’s family.
