    NewsAssam zoo records 68% survival rate since last April: OfficialGuwahati: The Assam state zoo-cum-botanical garden in Guwahati has either received or rescued a total of 544 birds, mammals and reptiles, of which 68% have survived, since April last year. The figures include 69 rescues and 30 deaths from the start of 2025, a senior zoo official said on Wednesday. Out of 69 rescues made since the start of the year, 30 died due to various reasons, with the zoo recording a survival rate of just 56%.

    Guwahati: A 29-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in the Hatigaon area of Guwahati on Wednesday morning. The investigating officer on the case said prima facie it appears to be suicide though further details are likely to emerge after the postmortem report arrives. The officer said, "The body had already been pulled down by the family members when our team arrived. Initial investigation suggests it was suicide.
