FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas (U of A) Faculty Senate has approved a resolution opposing the new Arkansas law requiring the display of the Ten Commandments. SB433, now Act 573 after being signed into law by Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders on April 14, requires the display of the national motto "In God We Trust" and the Ten Commandments in public buildings, including classrooms.

WASHINGTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — Jim Bob Duggar of "19 Kids and Counting" fame has purchased a $1 million home in rural Northwest Arkansas. Washington County records say the property was bought by Shiloh Warehouse LLC, for which Duggar is listed as an officer. The 6,318 square foot house was built in 2008 and sits on 10 acres of land.
A Zillow listing for the property said it was sold for $875,000 in May 2021 and put on the market for $1.4 million in June 2024.

SEQUOYAH COUNTY, Okla. — Stacy Lee Drake, a man arrested in Arkansas last year who has been connected to at least four murders across the country, appeared in a Sequoyah County court on May 5. District Attorney Jack Thorp told 5NEWS in April that May 5 and 6 were his preliminary hearing dates. Thorp explained that it would be a general presentation of the case. The judge will determine if there's enough evidence to proceed with a trial.
