    BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Mets slugging infielder who has been sidelined for well over a year following ACL repairment surgery is starting a rehab assignment with the Binghamton Rumble Ponies Friday. Ronny Mauricio, a Top-10 prospect in the New York Mets system, has been rehabbing his injured knee since tearing his ACL while playing in the Dominican Winter League in 2023.

    PLYMOUTH, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – New York State Police announced the arrest of a Plymouth man on multiple animal cruelty charges Thursday. NYSP at Norwich and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Sidney arrested 69-year-old Preston L. Branagan, of Plymouth, for the Agriculture and Markets Law of Torturing or Injuring Animals/Failure to Provide Sustenance (misdemeanor) and the Agriculture and Markets Law of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals (class “E” felony).

    BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The owner of one of Binghamton’s staple restaurants put out a heartfelt message on Facebook letting the community know it’d be closed for the next two months. Whole in the Wall, located on South Washington Street, will be closed temporarily starting Friday, May 9, owner Eliot Fiks announced. Fiks, as the only cook in the community staple, will be out of commission due to shoulder surgery.
