The Greeneville Emergency & Rescue Squad celebrated 75 years of service to Greeneville and Greene County with an open house held Saturday at the rescue squad building. The event provided members of the public an opportunity to tour the squad building, meet rescue squad members and inspect equipment and vehicles. The local rescue squad was founded in June 1950, and chartered in September of the same year.

Tim White, perhaps being most well-known for serving as executive coordinator and host of the PBS television series "Song of the Mountains," could be found painting a patriotic window splash on Main Street in Greeneville on Friday afternoon. White smoked a long cigar and sweat dripped from his brow as he climbed up and down a ladder in front of Uptown Real Estate Group working on sections of the window painting that included fireworks and Uncle Sam.

Land Star Development, the company that planned to create a housing development near the end of the runway of the Greeneville Municipal Airport, has filed suit against the Town of Greeneville and Greeneville Municipal Planning Commission after the Planning Commission voted to reject the development in April.

Chuckey Utility District crews are working to lay a new temporary water line on the deck of Kinser Bridge to replace a temporary line laid in the Nolichucky River after Hurricane Helene. Crews began work Wednesday installing a 12-inch water line on one side of the recently rebuilt Kinser Bridge's deck to supply customers on the south side of the river.
