In an extraordinary counterattack on the intervening night of May 9 and 10, Indiastruck three Pakistan Air Force (PAF) bases in Murid, Rafiqui Shorkot and the Nur Khan base at Rawalpindi a logistic hub for the PAF and also theheadquarters of Pakistan army. The attacks were carried out with clinical accuracy. Footage indicates that these bases, deep inside Pakistan, were struck with air-to-surface missiles, sending shockwaves throughout Pakistan.

Beneath the unfolding India-Pakistan crisis, one of the sub-plots involves dramatis personae India, Pakistan and the United States. This thickening sub-plot, with its curious twists and turns, is threatening to overshadow even the main plot. American interest – not to speak of its position and action – is the biggest variable in the crisis that seems to be edging towards an inevitable military confrontation.

Dozens of tourists, including a few honeymooners, were soaking in the atmosphere in one of the world’s most picturesque locations, a lush valley surrounded by mountains in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Their joy was short lived. In a few moments three terrorists, Muslims all, descended from the pine forests. They were armed to the teeth, carrying state-of-the art weapons and bodycam.
