And at long last, I fully wrap-up my Northern Lights trip report to Finland. After a visit to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge, I hit one more lounge before my Singapore Suites flight. The Lufthansa Senator Lounge B Frankfurt services Star Alliance First Class passengers. It’s among the nicer Lufthansa lounges I’ve visited, a big upgrade over the congested Lufthansa Business Lounges in Terminal 1. James visited this lounge back in 2018; it hasn’t changed much since then, it appears.

As I continued flying west across the globe, my next leg took me on Cathay Pacific A350-1000 Business Class. Color me surprised to find the brand spanking new jet on this short hop, but I sure jumped at the chance. As a reminder, I used 16,000 AsiaMiles plus HKD 285 in fees (~$35) to book this ticket. That’s a good price for a great seat and solid food & beverage, though service felt unusually rushed.

I arrived early for my Singapore Suites flight from Frankfurt to New York, affording plenty of time for lounging. Although a premium class ticket on Singapore affords you access to Lufthansa lounges, Singapore actually directs First Class passengers to the Air Canada Maple Leaf Lounge Frankfurt. So I headed there first before checking out other options. On its own, it’s a surprisingly good lounge, better in many ways than Lufthansa’s crowded Business lounges at FRA.

After a quick tour of Taipei, I started heading home in the “wrong” direction to complete the circle. I flew in from the east, which meant continuing to fly west. For my first leg, I flew Cathay Pacific to Hong Kong, which meant a visit to the Cathay Pacific Lounge Taipei before boarding. For an outstation lounge, this is a solid offering, with plenty of space and a good food selection. Note: this is part of my trip report series covering my around-the-world trip to Taiwan in January, 2024.

This summer, I took my family on a roadtrip across eastern Canada, starting Montréal and ending in Québec City. I’ll eventually get around to a trip report, but we did run into one unfortunate snag. While driving through eastern Québec, a construction truck threw a rock into our rental car’s windshield. Though not what I wanted to deal with, it did give me the chance to use the Capital One Venture X rental car insurance.
