    As the Burnaby School District cuts band and language programs, high school counsellors, and some other positions due to a $4.2 million budget shortfall, the district's teachers' association is urging the province to immediately increase funding for public education. Burnaby Teachers' Association president Alex Peters tells 1130 NewsRadio that due to the cuts, some daytime custodial positions at elementary schools will move to an on-call basis only.

According to BC Ferries, the Queen of Coquitlam is "currently holding outside of dock due to a mechanical difficulty.""The 10:50 am sailing from Langdale will be delayed arriving into Horseshoe Bay as we investigate the problem with the pitch control," BC Ferries said. "We are working to fix this and will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

    British Columbia Premier David Eby says it's hard to feel relief that the province dodged a proverbial bullet in terms of the United States president's tariff announcement on Wednesday, which targeted most global countries. In a media availability Thursday, Eby said that U.S. President Donald Trump is unpredictable and could change his mind at any time. Eby says they're expecting more punitive tariffs down the pipeline targeting B.C.'s softwood lumber sector.

    If a federal election were to be held on Tuesday, Vancouverites would most likely vote for the Liberal Party. That's according to a new poll conducted for CityNews by Leger. The poll finds 40 per cent of decided voters are supporting the Liberals, while the Conservatives are just behind at 37 per cent. The biggest issue for voters is how Ottawa will deal with the United States going forward.
