Adductor related groin pain is prevalent in elite football (soccer) players, accounting for 12-19% of all time loss injuries [1,2]. Adductor avulsions, in general, and proximal adductor avulsions, more specifically, are a key subset of this category. Traditionally, full adductor tendon avulsions have been treated surgically, but some studies suggest that surgical treatment may prolong return to sport, without providing superior results [3].
