LAKELAND, Fla. (WFLA) — Doris Moore Bailey’s life work has involved spreading the message of Juneteenth around Florida, the southeast and the country. She organized Lakeland’s first Juneteenth celebration in 1992 in the Coleman-Bush Building. On Saturday, she will attend the 33rd observance event in Lakeland in the same building. “It’s significant. It’s significant to see something come to fruition,” said Bailey, who is now regional manager for the Juneteenth Observance Foundation.
