John Arietta was recently selected as Chino Valley Police Officer of the Year because of his dedication and professionalism. Chino Valley Elks told Police Chief Josh McIntire that they wanted to honor a local police officer. McIntire's administrative team worked together and selected Arietta. Arietta, who is a field training officer, said he was honored and appreciates the individual recognition, but emphasized that there are many other officers in the department deserving the award.

The Wild Rivers Film Tour this year will emphasize the drive to make the Upper Verde River designation as a wild and scenic river, which would give the river a high level of protection while continuing to promote access for public recreation. The film tour will be held Friday, May 30, at the Elks Theatre in Prescott. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with films starting at 7. Tickets, which are $12, can be purchased at the door or online.

Chino Valley Town Council members voted unanimously May 13 to tentatively raise the town's sales tax on manufactured homes from 2% to not more than 3%. The action would impact only mobile home dealers in Chino Valley. There are less than five mobile home dealers in Chino Valley.

Larry Holt, who served in law enforcement in California for 34 years, read the names of the fallen while Annie Perkins placed a rose for each in a vase.

Dr. Pierre Tibi, chief of cardiac surgery at Dignity Health Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, said the actions people take when they have the symptoms of heart attack or stroke can save their lives or prevent the problems from becoming debilitating. If someone is having chest pains or symptoms of a stroke or acute abdominal pain they should go directly to the appropriate hospital as quickly as possible.

By STAN BINDELL, For the Review The Chino Valley Town Council voted 6-1 to raise the wastewater rate on mobile homes to 80% of what other homeowners pay continuing to give those in mobile home parks a discount. The council members took the action May 13 at Town Hall with more than 100 attending for various issues. Mayor Tom Armstrong was the lone dissenting vote as he would have raised the rate but not by as much.

By STAN BINDELL, For the Review Chino Valley High School students submitted a petition of 466 names asking that the school board bring back School Resource Officer (SRO) Josh Noden for the 2025-26 school year. The petition was filed with the board during its May 12 monthly meeting. About 60 people crowded into the small board meeting room to express dissatisfaction of news that Noden was told he would not return next school year.

By STAN BINDELL, For the Review Chino Valley Planning and Zoning addressed changes to the noise ordinance during a work session on May 6 at town hall. Town staff is going to work on the revisions and present to the town council at a future meeting. There are no votes taken during work sessions, but the Planning and Zoning Commission reached a consensus that the noise ordinances had be based on decibels because that way violations would be measurable.

Remy Temberge opened Chino Rentals 44 years ago with a small store and a vision. That vision now covers three acres, endless equipment to rent and 15 employees. That success, and community kindness, was recognized by the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center during its annual awards ceremony as Chino Rentals won the Business Excellence Award "In recognition of service, integrity nd consistent excellence that has set a benchmark for business success and community impact."
